Based on various texts from the Psalms, Praise Him! Praise the Lord! is a driving work combining both rhythmic elements and expressive, lyrical phrases. Using mainly the writings of King David, the Psalmist, this work focuses on praising the Lord for "His mighty wonders" and for putting a "song in my mouth." The instruments not only accompany the chorus, but also provide key melodic material themselves, allowing the musicians to praise in tandem with the Chorus. From its opening, declarative statement, to it lush, four-part chorale sections, the listener is invited to "Praise the Lord" with all of their heart.
